Today, August 2, my eldest daughter SHANNEN HEART, is celebrating her 5th birthday. Sadly, Her Daddy is not around to kiss and tell her how much he loves her. But soon enough in a few months time, they'll be together and laughing off again.
Many years ago, in my mid twenties, i thought of becoming a priest. I was deeply involved in church activities then and discerning of entering the seminary. But God had other plans for me and He gave me a woman to spend my whole life with. When my wife and I got married, she's already conceiving... not by the Holy Spirit but by me(Whew!..what a confession). When my first baby was born, I knew i've offended God and thought of offering a name for her as a sign of myself asking for forgiveness. We called her SHANNEN HEART.
Shannen was taken from my wife's first name which is Sheilini, and Heart as a sign of God's Heart for others. It is my wish and longing that someday, my daughter will be a heart for others. My wife and I consecrated her to Our Lady of Manaoag (Nuestra Senora de Pangasinan), Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.
